EBS x Fullalove: in conversation with Lizzy Sawkings

We’re super excited to be launching our very first exclusive collaboration collection with the amazing Lizzy Sawkings, aka EBS Designs. She’s a total babe whose values and beliefs that everyone deserves to feel confident and love the skin they are in completely align with ours.

To celebrate this, we’ve printed one of her amazing works available to buy on our best-selling organic cotton bodysuit, and available on either a black or white organic cotton t-shirt.

Here we deep dive into what inspires Lizzy and find out more about her beautiful art...

A swim teacher by day and an artist by night, we’re truly obsessed with Lizzy’s gorgeous prints that celebrate all of the beautiful women who have maybe struggled with body image at different times in their lives who have inspired her.

We asked Lizzy where her inspiration derives from, “In a world where perfect bodies are plastered over all social media, we have been taught that our natural bodies should be hidden away in shame. Through my work I strive to celebrate the human body, to teach people that their flaws are what make us who we are and to re-establish the love and confidence that our bodies deserve. I have belief that everyone deserves to love the body they are in, but more importantly, to actively celebrate it. My work uses real pressed flowers to signify that loving your own body is a natural right.”

Lizzy is often sent images from clients for commissions that are mostly of their own body. She uses fresh flowers that she’s picked herself based on her reflection of their personality and presses them into the prints. Honestly, how stunning!

She then spray paints over the flowers to create a negative flower print and then draws and paints the body image over the top to create the final image.

All of her prints can be found on her Etsy shop here.

Throughout Lizzy’s artistic process, she takes time to develop an intimate relationship into each subject's psyche, creating a very personal experience, one that has lent itself to the support of mental health charities such as MIND.

“I believe it is so important to look after your mental health. For someone to send me images of themselves so  that I can create my art, should be a glorious, freeing experience.  My brand ethos is to support and empower other people and by doing so I am supporting and empowering myself!”

And last but not least we just had to ask Lizzy why she wanted to collaborate with us, “I LOVE the Fullalove brand. I try my hardest to be as sustainable as possible, I am in the process of making my own recycled paper for shipping my prints. I think it is such an important step to actively look after our planet, and collaborating has forced me to look hard at my own practices. Of course the pieces are GORGEOUS and Millie is a full on babe, so that always helps.”
